The purpose of the study was to examine the relationships among employee resilience, positive emotion, and job performance, and to clarify the mediating effect of the previous two on job performance (further defined as task performance and contextual performance). The participants were contract employees in Taiwan. The data was collected via questionnaires. 404 effectively-completed questionnaires were collected. Results showed that: 1) employee resilience is beneficial to the enhancement of task and contextual job performance; 2) positive emotions are beneficial to the enhancement of employees’ job performance; 3) employee resilience is positively related to positive emotions; 4) employee resilience mediates the relationship between positive emotions and task and contextual performance; 5) positive emotions mediate the relationship between employee resilience and contextual performance. Theoretical implications, practical implications, and suggestions for future studies are provided.
